![]() ![]() One side of a pocket-sized map-fold designed for under-16s to encourage them to use sexual health centres. The maps are accompanied by text descriptions of the routes, the blue text describing landmarks, the red referring to buses. The strip at the bottom contains essential clinic information and tears off, folding to credit-card size so that it can be kept in a purse or wallet. The format evolved in response to focus groups with the potential audience. (444kb) |
I produce maps and plans in a variety of ways; drawn by hand, using Ordnance Survey data or architects' plans. Conversion from CAD data is not simple, but I have developed ways of transferring information into FreeHand. Recent projects have included:
LEAP map A map of the whole of the Borough of Wandsworth as part of a government-funded project exploring ways of persuading people to take exercise. It combines available information about walking & cycling routes and sports facilities.
Park walks A series of local walks, also part of the LEAP project, printed in two colours as separate cards in a folder.
New Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton. The floorplan had to be designed while building work was still in progress, using architects' plans backed up with site visits. It was published in a version for patients (6) and as part of the staff handboook (7). Pink numbers will open larger versions and/or more examples in a viewer window.
